Leather and Other Wallets
Before men's wallets became the tool in which to store currency, leather pouches were used since coins were the only currency known then. Wallets emerged when paper currency was introduced in the West during the seventeenth century. The first leather wallets were very resilient, and they were made out of cow or horse hide.
today's mens leather wallets with all these card slots didn't exist until credit cards became popular in the early '50s. The only notable variation in wallets since then was the 1970s' debut of Velcro. In 1995 Ken Obenski designed a thinner wallet, but now you can find leather wallets, or those from other materials, in various designs, shapes, and colors.
There are wallets (thin enough you can barely notice them. There are leather wallets that are made thin, which makes it easy for the owner to conceal it. There is another wallet variety with a leather string attached for it to be hung around the neck and hidden under the clothes also for the same purpose.
